Commings and goings . . .

In many cases, Launceston Workshops was the first and last destination for all types of rollingstock in their service lives.

Left: The part burnt remains of three cattle wagons stand out amongst the sea of twisted remanins of vehicles that served the TGR well for so many years. The carriages on the other side of the fence fared somewhat better. At this time, part of the old roundhouse wasbeing used to store equipment destined for preservation. 29 November 1980.

Right: Their Rolls Royce engines sold and removed for re-use, the remains of W2 and W1 wait for the final cut. 23 July 1981.

Left: The open parts of the roundhouse area had long been used to store out of service rollingstock. Interestingly, all three of these locos survive today, with Y7 being used as a driving trailer on cement train duties, and the two ZC class being sold to Morrison Knudsen Australia for rebuild. 21 January 1993.

Right: Other locos were not so lucky. Unrenumbered ex QR locos 1322, 1339 & 1324 and ex SAR 860 and 861 all stand in the area where numerous TGR steam locos were once stored prior to scrapping. None of these locos ever ran again. 22 January 1992.
