Preservation groups in Tasmanian operate a mixture of regularly scheduled running days and special events. This list has been compiled with information provided by the groups, and the ARHS takes no responsibility for any changes or incorrect information on this page. See the end of this page for a list of abbreviations and links to contact details
Following a year long investigation carried out by TasRail and the three interested tourist railways into main line access for tourist and heritage rail passenger operations, it was announced in December 2011 that access to the freight railway network was not possible in the short to medium term. This means that tourist and heritage rail passenger services will be confined to private railway lines for the short term with the situation to be reviewed again in 2 to 3 years.

This list details all mainline excursions, and other events which are not regularly scheduled. Some of these are one off events, others happen regularly but on differing days.
Many groups have standardised on operating certain days of the month. The regular operations may be varied by special events (see above), or unforeseen circumstances
